nuggets Fall to Clippers Despite Jokic’s Historic Night
Denver, CO – The Denver Nuggets suffered a tough 115-109 loss to the Los angeles Clippers on Friday night, despite a historic performance from reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.
Jokic etched his name in the NBA record books, joining hall of Famer Magic Johnson as the only players in league history to record at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in consecutive games.
“It’s an honor to be mentioned with a legend like Magic,” jokic said after the game. “But ultimately, the win is what matters most, and we didn’t get that tonight.”
The Clippers, led by James Harden’s 39-point outburst, proved too much for the Nuggets to handle. Harden, who also dished out 8 assists, was a constant thorn in Denver’s side, hitting clutch shots throughout the game.
Denver struggled from the free throw line, missing 12 crucial attempts. The missed opportunities proved costly down the stretch, as the Clippers capitalized on every Nuggets mistake.
“We had our chances,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. “We just didn’t execute down the stretch. We need to be better at the free throw line, and we need to do a better job of containing Harden.”
the return of forward Aaron Gordon, who had missed the previous four games with a rib injury, provided a spark for Denver. Gordon finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds in 25 minutes.
Despite the loss, the Nuggets remain a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. With Jokic leading the way, Denver will look to bounce back in their next game against the [Insert Next Opponent].
