Başakşehir manager Nuri Şahin faced an unexpected and tense confrontation during his post-match press conference after his side drew 0-0 with Konyaspor in the seventh week of the Süper Lig at Konya Büyükşehir Stadyumu. A reporter asked the young coach a provocative question linking their European qualification to a previous tournament result, immediately sparking tension in the room.
The Post-Match Question and Initial Clash
During the briefing following the scoreless draw, a journalist addressed Şahin by stating: Trabzonspor’un Türkiye Kupası finalinde Konyaspor’a karşı kazanmasıyla siz Avrupa’ya gittiniz ama ilk turdan elendiniz, ilahi adalet diyebilir miyiz?
The query left Şahin visibly surprised, and the club’s press officer reacted sharply to the reporter before the manager stepped in to answer. Despite the club representative’s warnings, Şahin addressed the room directly.
Şahin’s Response and Social Media Reaction
Rejecting the premise of divine retribution, Şahin stated: Bu sene üzerinden konuşacak olursak, ülkemize puan kazandıramadık.
Following the exchange, the question quickly became a trending topic on social media, where users criticized the journalist for the phrasing used during the press conference.
