Mercedes-Benz CLA Earns Top Safety Rating from Euro NCAP
The Mercedes-Benz CLA received Euro NCAP’s “Best Performer of 2025” award, demonstrating the growing importance of artificial intelligence in vehicle safety assessments. The vehicle’s high score resulted from a combination of conventional safety features and the NVIDIA DRIVE AV software platform.
Ola Källenius, CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Group, stated the award is “the culmination of five years of collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA to enhance real-world safety and deliver tangible value to customers.”
Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) has evaluated vehicle safety for nearly 30 years. The institution is supported by European governments, motoring organizations, and consumer groups.
Euro NCAP assesses vehicles in four categories: Adult Occupant, Child occupant, Vulnerable Road User, and safety Assist. The “Vulnerable Road user” and “Safety Assist” categories are particularly relevant for AI-powered driver assistance systems, evaluating technologies like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping support, and speed assistance.
To qualify for “Best in Class” recognition, vehicles must achieve a five-star rating with standard equipment. Euro NCAP tested a record 49 models in 2025.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA achieved the highest overall safety score of the year.
How DRIVE AV Is Built for Trust
