STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – New Yorkers hoping for a picturesque white Christmas will have to adjust their holiday dreams. AccuWeather predicts a steady warming trend leading up to christmas Day, with dry conditions and temperatures hovering around 40 degrees.

“Today it’s very cold and windy, we only have highs in the mid-20s today—it’s going to be the coldest day of the week,” said Dan Pydynowski, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather. “It looks like temperatures will start to come up a little bit as we move into Monday.”

While Sunday will remain windy, conditions are expected to calm down by Monday.

“So tomorrow and Tuesday, on Christmas Eve, will not be as windy as what we’ve been dealing with this weekend,” assured Pydynowski. “It’s chilly, but nothing like what we’re dealing with today.”

Monday and Tuesday will see highs in the low 30s with plenty of sunshine. A weak storm system may bring a light dusting of snow or rain showers Monday evening into Tuesday morning, but accumulation is unlikely.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be dry with afternoon highs around 40 degrees.

“On Wednesday night, or the day after christmas on Thursday, maybe a little bit of rain or snow,” emphasized Pydynowski. “If there is, it’d be very little, it’s not going to accumulate in terms of any kind of rainfall, maybe a tenth of an inch or so.”

The days following Christmas will remain dry with temperatures in the lower 40s.

So while a white Christmas isn’t in the cards this year,New Yorkers can still expect a mild and relatively dry holiday season.

Maria sipped her coffee, gazing wistfully out the window at the swirling snowflakes. “It would be amazing to have a white Christmas this year,” she sighed, turning to her friend David.

David, ever the pragmatist, chuckled. “Well, based on what I read, it looks like we’ll be trading snow boots for raincoats this year.”

Maria laughed, “Maybe we can still build a snowman… out of slush?”

Mild Holiday Forecast leaves Some Longing for a White Christmas

New York, NY – As the holiday season approaches, many Americans are dreaming of a white Christmas. But this year, AccuWeather predicts a warmer than average December, leaving some to wonder if they’ll be trading snow boots for raincoats.

“Really?” Maria exclaimed, her face falling as she heard the news. “What did they say?”

David, scrolling through the AccuWeather forecast on his phone, shared the details. “They’re predicting a warming trend leading up to Christmas. Temperatures will be hovering around 40 degrees, with mostly dry conditions.”

Maria pouted. “No snow at all?”

“They did mention a slight chance of some flurries around Christmas Eve,” David continued, “but they don’t think it’ll stick.” He paused, reading further. “It looks like today’s going to be the coldest day of the week, with highs in the mid-20s. But things should start warming up from Monday onward.”

Maria sighed. “Well, at least it won’t be freezing. It’s just not the same without a little snow, you know?”

“I here you,” David said. “But maybe we can still make the most of it. Think hot cocoa by the fireplace, maybe some ice skating at Rockefeller center. It can still be festive without a white blanket covering everything.”

Maria smiled. “You’re right. It’s all about the spirit of the holiday, snow or no snow.”

While a white Christmas may be off the table for many this year, the spirit of the season remains strong. From cozy gatherings to festive traditions, Americans are finding ways to celebrate, regardless of the weather.
