George Gountas, a Brooklyn father, reluctantly attended a Pedro Pascal look-alike contest Sunday and walked away victorious. The event, held at Son Del North Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side, awarded Gountas $50 and a year’s supply of burritos for his resemblance to the actor.

Gountas’ wife, Jenny Gania, said people first noted the resemblance to pascal, star of “The Mandalorian” and “Game of Thrones,” when the latter series premiered. Gania encouraged her husband to enter the contest as a Father’s Day treat.

Annisha Garcia, chef and co-owner of the restaurant, said the contest was inspired by Pascal’s 2023 comment about the lack of good Mexican food in New York City. Garcia said she wanted to prove him wrong.
wim Shih, also a co-owner, said the event aimed to spread joy. “There’s just so much sadness in the world right now, and we wanted to be a bit of sunshine today amidst all that,” Shih said.

One contestant sported a t-shirt supporting Pascal’s transgender sister, Lux, referencing Pascal’s slogan, “Protect the Dolls.”
