Local hero Saves Family From Burning Home
Pittsburgh, PA – A fast-thinking neighbor is being hailed a hero after rescuing a family from a raging house fire early this morning.
The blaze erupted around 3:00 a.m. on the 400 block of Maple Street,engulfing the two-story home in flames.
“I woke up to the sound of crackling and saw orange light flickering through my window,” said John Miller, the neighbor who sprang into action. “I knew something was terribly wrong.”
Miller rushed outside and saw the house next door consumed by fire. Without hesitation, he pounded on the front door, waking the family inside.
“I could hear screaming from inside,” Miller recounted. “I knew I had to get them out.”
Miller helped the family, including two young children, escape through a back window.
“HeS a true hero,” said Sarah Jones, the mother of the rescued children. “We owe him our lives. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t be here today.”
