Bronx Community Grapples with Loss After Weekend Shooting Near Haffen park
Bronx, NY – A vibrant Saturday evening near Haffen Park in the Bronx was shattered by gunfire, leaving one man dead adn four others wounded, including a teenage girl fighting for her life. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Burke and Wickham Avenues, has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents reeling and searching for answers.
According to the New York City Police Department, officers arrived on the scene to find a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest and a 17-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the face. Both where rushed to a local hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The teenage girl remains in critical condition, her future hanging in the balance.
In addition to the two victims found at the scene, three other individuals with gunshot wounds sought medical attention at area hospitals. Their conditions are currently unknown.
The shooting near Haffen Park is the latest in a string of violent incidents across the city and the nation, leaving communities searching for solutions. Just recently,three people were shot in Times Square,and a mass shooting in Baltimore left six wounded,including a 5-year-old child.
