New York Stock Exchange Plans to Extend Daily Trading Hours
The New York Stock Exchange, a leading representative exchange, is pursuing a plan to extend the daily trading hours of its stock electronic trading platform, according to a report by CNBC.
If the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. securities authority, approves the extension of trading hours, daily trading hours will increase by 6 hours from the current 16 hours to 22 hours.
Currently, the New York Stock Exchange operates from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, and from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day, Korean time.
The New York Stock Exchange is considering a plan to advance pre-market trading to 1:30 a.m. and delay after-hours trading to 11:30 p.m., reflecting domestic and international interest in U.S. stocks.
If the extension of trading hours is approved, it is expected that it will become easier to trade stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange during the day in Korea.
