The National ⁤Youth Theatre (NYT)⁤ of Auckland, New Zealand, has issued a statement regarding allegations against a former staff member, ⁤Cole Thomas johnston, who is now facing multiple charges in‍ connection with alleged sexual offenses. while the NYT maintains ⁤the charges do not relate⁣ to Johnston’s time with the organization, the case has raised ⁢concerns⁤ and prompted a reaffirmation of the theatre’s commitment to safeguarding its members.

Auckland entertainer⁣ Cole johnston, 28, is facing nine charges in total, as ⁤reported by the New Zealand Herald. these include three charges of committing⁣ an indecent act on a girl aged between⁢ 12 and 15, and⁣ eight ‍charges of sexual violation.⁢ Court documents detail ⁢alleged offenses occurring in Auckland between January 2017 and January 2021, all relating to a single alleged victim. Though, the NYT has been speedy to distance itself ⁤from the ⁤allegations concerning Johnston’s personal conduct. In a statement, the theatre ⁣emphasized that ‍”these ⁤charges⁣ do⁢ not⁣ relate to his time employed by our organisation” and confirmed that Johnston is no longer involved with the NYT.
