Still searching for the spangram? It has six letters and stretches across the fourth row, touching both the left and right sides of the board.

The answers to today’s Strands (game #456) are:
- PLUM
- CHERRY
- BEEFSTEAK
- HEIRLOOM
- JUBILEE
- LUNCHBOX
- SPANGRAM: TOMATO
I thought the “on the vine” theme was referring to grapes originally, so I began by looking for varieties of wine. Finding none,I took a hint and was given a PLUM. Next I found CHERRY. At this stage I thought we were searching for fruit (not that either cherries or plums grow on vines).
The solver initially thought the theme involved grapes and wine varieties. The “plum” clue led to discovering other answers like “cherry.” the connection became clearer upon finding “beefsteak,” realizing it was about types of tomatoes. Some varieties, like “jubilee” and “lunchbox,” might be new to some players.
