NYU Langone Health, based in New York City, celebrated a major milestone, having raised over $5.5 billion in donor support over the past 18 years. The achievement ‌was recognized at its annual Violet ‍Ball on June 3.

The news​ writing event ‌saw the proclamation of⁢ eight new gifts, totaling nearly $160 million, further bolstering the⁤ institution’s resources. This‌ financial ⁢support ‌aids NYU Langone’s continued growth and​ news reporting efforts.

NYU Langone Health has evolved into a leading academic health system with a⁣ $14 billion valuation. The organization encompasses seven hospitals,‍ more than 320 ⁤care⁣ facilities, and employs 53,000 individuals across new York City and Florida. In March, NYU Langone finalized⁣ its⁢ acquisition of Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue,‌ N.Y., now known as NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk. ​The two organizations had been affiliated since 2022.

Effective Sept.1, Alec Kimmelman, MD, PhD, ​will become⁤ the next⁤ CEO and ⁣dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Kimmelman, a researcher and radiation oncologist, joined NYU Langone in 2016 and most recently ⁢directed the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter⁢ Cancer⁢ Center. He succeeds Robert Grossman, MD, ‍who is retiring.
