Abu Dhabi – New Zealand’s rugby dominance on the world stage continues as Kelston Boys’ High and Westlake Boys’ High stormed to remarkable victories in their opening matches at the World Schools Rugby Festival in Abu dhabi.
The Auckland powerhouses are aiming to bring the prestigious title back to New Zealand for a third consecutive year.
Kelston Boys’ High, champions of Auckland 1A and the Blues First XV, made a resounding statement wiht a 33-0 demolition of South African side EG Jansen Hoërskool. The young EG Jansen team,comprised primarily of players who will be starting their new season in March,struggled to contain the relentless Kiwi attack.
Right wing Satali Fretton opened the scoring for Kelston in the fourth minute, touching down in the corner after a powerful scrum move initiated by No. 8 Aio Keith.Tyson Parsons added a penalty, though kicking proved challenging throughout the match.
Westlake Boys’ High,the reigning tournament champions,faced a tougher challenge against English champions Harrow School but ultimately emerged victorious with a 22-5 win.
