Oakland Swimming & Diving Teams Shine in Tough Meet Against Miami University
Oakland Swimming and Diving Teams Compete at Miami University
OXFORD, Ohio – The Oakland Swimming and Diving teams faced strong competition against Miami University (OH) in a dual meet with several impressive performances from the Golden Grizzlies.
Chris Palvadre, recently named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, won the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.36. Mia Englender secured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:32.90.
Senior Karel Subagyo excelled in the men’s 500-yard freestyle, finishing first in 4:36.64. He also took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.87. On the women’s side, senior Rhianna Hensler triumphed in the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 2:05.70 and earning vital points for the team.
In the men’s 200-yard butterfly, Oakland claimed the second and third spots. Max Haney finished second in 1:51.91, followed by James Hart with a time of 1:52.63. Oakland’s diving team also performed well, with Ellie Chalifoux placing second on the women’s 1-meter board with a score of 266.33. Edin DeHooghe finished third on the men’s 1-meter board with a score of 264.15.
Despite facing tough opponents, Oakland swimmers achieved personal and season-best times, reinforcing their status as contenders in the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies will compete again on Thursday, November 11, at 4 p.m. against Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
