OAP Arrested: £170,000 Jewellery Theft from Wife
Pensioner Granted Bail Amidst Contact Ban with Wife
A pensioner has been granted bail with strict conditions, including a ban on contacting his wife and entering the main residence of their home. The case, heard before District Judge Rosalie Prytherch, highlights a “very sad” situation involving a former hotel manager now caring for his ill wife.
Details of the Court Hearing
Constable Kirk, giving evidence, stated she believed there was a connection between the pensioner and the charges brought against him, and that bail could be considered subject to specific conditions. Defense solicitor joe Mulholland described the case as deeply upsetting, explaining that his client, Mr. Harkins, previously held a position as a hotel manager but now dedicates his time to caring for his wife due to her illness.
To facilitate the bail conditions,Mr. Harkins will reside in an annexe located on the property, separate from the main house. This arrangement is intended to ensure no contact occurs between him and his wife.
bail Conditions and Next Steps
District Judge Prytherch set bail at £250, but crucially, imposed a strict prohibition on any contact between Mr. Harkins and his wife. He is also forbidden from entering the main house.
The case has been adjourned until September 1st, allowing time for further investigation and preparation. This delay will allow all parties to fully prepare their arguments and evidence for the next hearing.
