Obituary for Richard James Wuethrich
Richard James Wuethrich passed away peacefully at home in Neenah, Wisconsin, on November 14, 2024. He was 90 years old. Richard was born on July 7, 1934, to Alfred and Anna Maria Louise Wuethrich.
Richard was a dedicated member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. He was baptized and confirmed there. He attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for elementary school and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Navy and served as a Radioman Striker on the U.S.S. Valley Forge, tracking submarines in the North Atlantic.
Richard graduated from Valparaiso University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 3-M in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Kimberly Clark in Neenah, Wisconsin, Niagara Falls, New York, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. His hobbies included downhill skiing, golf, and traveling with his family. While living in Florida, he volunteered at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. After returning to Wisconsin, he actively supported his grandchildren, attending their events without fail.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Stabler, and his grandchildren, Alexandra Lynn McDonald and Zachary James McDonald. He leaves behind nieces and nephews Bonny (David) Marek, Terry (Diane) Wuethrich, and Wendy (Daniel) Kierstead.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gilbert and Kermit Wuethrich, sisters-in-law Gertrude and Carol Wuethrich, nephews Mark and Stephen Wuethrich, and his former spouse Bonnie Wright Wuethrich.
Visitation will occur from 1 PM to 2 PM on Wednesday, November 20th, at Lake View Memorial Chapel, located at 2786 Algoma Blvd. in Oshkosh. A service, officiated by Pastor Jon Gallatin, will begin at 2 PM, followed by burial.
The family expresses gratitude to Ally for her excellent nursing care in his final week and throughout the year. They thank Marissa from Compassus Hospice for her assistance and timing. Special thanks to Pastor Jon from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for his visits.
