Bodycam Footage Released in Fatal orange County Drug Raid Shooting

The Orange‌ County​ Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released bodycam video of a deputy fatally shooting a man during‌ a‍ May 16 drug raid. The incident ⁣occurred at a residence on Lejune Drive around​ 2:20 p.m.

Deputies conducting the‍ SWAT raid reported encountering tyrone Bartley, 32, in a bedroom. According to the sheriff’s office, Bartley reached behind a door toward a rifle. A deputy ​then⁣ shot Bartley, who later died at a hospital.The released bodycam video shows deputies announcing ​their presence and breaching the door.

The footage then shows deputies‌ clearing the living room and kitchen before kicking ​in a bedroom door.Bartley‍ is then seen opening a separate bedroom door. Deputies shout ⁢”hands up” before firing multiple shots. The sheriff’s ‍office maintains the video shows Bartley reaching for the rifle.

Though, ‌Bartley’s family disputes the sheriff’s office account. At a Saturday press ​conference, his sister, Shereem Bartley, stated, “He did nothing wrong.” She added that her brother was not the intended target of the raid.

Brittani Jackson, Bartley’s girlfriend, accused ​the sheriff’s office of mishandling the raid, claiming the warrant was for “two roommates that ‌weren’t ‍even home.” She tearfully asserted, “They say the gun was later found behind the door. There was no gun behind the door.”

The sheriff’s office ⁤reported recovering three handguns, one rifle, and nearly 370 grams of fentanyl-laced cocaine during the May 16 incident. They added that two handguns were seized earlier in the month during a domestic violence call at the same address,but did not specify which unit within the house was involved.

The Florida Department⁣ of Law ‍Enforcement is currently⁢ investigating the fatal shooting as part of standard procedure in deputy-involved ‍shootings.
