Ocado Intelligent Automation (OIA) is set to demonstrate its end-to-end automated fulfillment technology at MODEX 2026, taking place from April 13 to April 16 in Atlanta, Georgia. The company will showcase a variety of robotics and software solutions designed for sectors including retail apparel, footwear, healthcare, third-party logistics, and consumer packaged goods.
A central highlight of the event is the unveiling of Ocado IQ, a cloud-based, AI-powered software suite. According to company details, Ocado IQ is designed to direct every pick, path, and priority from inbound to outbound operations, serving as the intelligence layer for OIA’s mobile robot fleet.
AI-Driven Operational Flexibility
The Ocado IQ platform utilizes artificial intelligence to optimize warehouse operations by moving away from single-mode picking systems. OIA stated that the software enables two intelligent pick modes, Sweep
and TagTeam
, to run concurrently across a single site.
This capability allows operators to optimize different zones of a facility based on layout, velocity, and product density. By avoiding a one-size-fits-all or swarm-style approach to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), the system aims to eliminate inefficiencies that can reduce overall productivity.
Robotics and Hardware Demonstrations
OIA will display several hardware solutions at booths B10119 and B10719 in Building B. These include the Ocado Storage and Retrieval System (OSRS), which the company describes as its flagship solution engineered for high throughput operations requiring scalability and reliability.

The company will also feature two specific types of autonomous mobile robots:
- The Chuck AMR: A robot that collaborates with retail associates to handle tasks such as picking, sortation, putaway, and returns. Retailers currently utilizing these robots include Lulus, Foot Locker, Paddywax, and CB2.
- The Porter AMR: A pallet-moving robot designed to automate cage handling, inventory moves, case picking, piece picking, and cross-docking.
The Porter AMR is specifically intended for facilities with mixed inventory profiles or constrained layouts, serving as a modernization tool for operations that previously relied on manual trolleys and forklifts. OIA plans to make the Porter system available by the end of 2026.
the company will showcase OCADEX robotic pick arms. These arms are designed to mimic human dexterity, with the ability to learn optimal picking methods for items ranging from individual eaches up to cases on pallets.
Scalable Fulfillment Strategies
For environments with medium to low throughput, OIA offers the Ocado Mobile Robot System (OMRS). This solution combines autonomous mobile robots with Fulfillment Execution System (FES) software to provide a scalable deployment option for businesses looking to reduce risk and grow profits.
The OIA leadership team attending the event includes President of North America Leah Holding, Chief Commercial Officer Monique Apter, VP of Strategic Engagements Jamie Spencer, and VP of Sales David Scheffrahn.
