Maria Giuffrida, a 34-year-old woman from Ocean City, Maryland, has been charged with attempted murder and assault following a stabbing incident that left two people injured in Berlin, Maryland, on May 11.
According to charging documents obtained by WBOC, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Majestic Prince Lane in the early morning hours of May 11 after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, investigators encountered a female victim outside the home who was suffering from stab wounds to her legs. She informed officers that she had woken up to find Giuffrida standing over her with a knife. While the woman was able to escape the residence, she notified police that the suspect remained inside with another victim.
Law enforcement officers entered the home and ordered Giuffrida to descend from the third floor before taking her into custody.
During a search of the third floor, investigators discovered a man lying in a pool of blood. A bloody knife was found under the bed, according to court records.
The male victim was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for medical treatment.
Charging documents state that both victims were asleep in bed when Giuffrida entered the residence shortly before the stabbings occurred.
Giuffrida faces several charges, including:
- Attempted 1st Degree Murder
- Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
- Two counts of 1st Degree Assault against both victims
- Two counts of 2nd Degree Assault against both victims
She is currently being held without bond.
