Odegaard Blow: Arteta Fears Lengthy Layoff for Star Midfielder, Warns of Significant Impact on Team
Martin Odegaard Injury Update: Arsenal Manager Miguel Arteta Shares Latest News
Arsenal manager Miguel Arteta has provided an update on midfielder Martin Odegaard’s injury, revealing that the Norwegian international is set to miss a significant amount of time due to an ankle ligament problem.
Odegaard suffered the injury during the international break, specifically in the League of Nations football competition on September 9th, where the Norwegian national team defeated the Austrian national team. He fell and injured his left ankle after being hit by Christoph Baumgartner in the second half.
Following the injury, Odegaard underwent an MRI scan at Arsenal, which confirmed the extent of the damage. As a result, he was unable to participate in the London derby match against Spurs, where Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the English Premier League.
Arteta expressed his concerns about Odegaard’s injury, stating: “Scans show a ligament injury in his ankle, so we will miss using him. It’s a pretty serious injury, so we’re going to be missing him for a while. Hopefully, it won’t be for too many months.”
Arteta also highlighted Odegaard’s importance to the team, saying: “He is our captain. He is one of the most important and best players in our team. Our identity is very much tied to the way he plays. It’s a big test for the team to see how we manage to use different players.”
