OFFICIAL: Liverpool have signed Federico Chiesa
Liverpool FC have announced the official signing of Italian Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
Liverpool issued a statement on Thursday evening in which it said it had reached an agreement with Juventus over the transfer of Federico Chiesa pending a work permit in England.
He added: “The 26-year-old striker has successfully completed his medical, completed the terms of a long-term contract and is now set to join the Reds.”
Chiesa will arrive at Anfield immediately after 51 caps for Italy and 131 appearances for Juventus over four seasons.
“I’m very happy to be a Liverpool player,” Chiesa said when he phoned me, ‘do you want to join Liverpool?’ – and the manager called me – I immediately said yes, know the history of this club, I know what it is “for the people”.
“So, I’m very happy and I can’t wait to get started,” he added.
Chiesa joined Fiorentina’s youth team and worked his way up to his first-team debut at the age of 18 against Juventus in Serie A at the start of the 2016–17 season.
Chiesa made 153 appearances for the Viola, scoring 34 times, before moving to Juventus in October 2020, initially on a two-year loan that lasted until May 2022.
