Offset has spoken publicly for the first time since being shot outside a Florida casino, describing his recovery mindset as having a “gladiator mentality” in an interview recorded a week after the incident.
The Migos rapper, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was wounded in the hip during a shooting outside the Seminole Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on April 6, 2026. The incident followed a fight with Lil Tjay’s crew, resulting in Tjay’s arrest for disorderly conduct. The FBI has since taken over the investigation and is seeking multiple suspects.
In the interview with The Creator’s Inc. Podcast, released on April 23, 2026, Offset emphasized his determination to continue working despite the injury. “I gotta keep pushing, I’m like the Energizer bunny,” he said, noting his rapid recovery and return to professional commitments.
Gladiator mentality, man. The show don’t never stop at the end of the day.

Offset explained that this mindset helps him stay focused on his music and recovery, stating he has been “working on my album” while in Los Angeles and plans to release new music “a couple months from now.” He confirmed he performed at a concert on April 12, less than one week after the shooting, describing the logistics of traveling with medical accommodations.
“You got to go G6 — G5, sorry. Had them bring the bed out, lay on that thing for six hours, go to sleep,” Offset said of his travel arrangements. “You cool.”
A few days after the shooting, Offset shared a message on social media expressing gratitude for support and outlining his focus: “Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love! I’m good….but I’m planning to be better!” he wrote. “I’m focused on my family, my recovery and getting back to the music… Realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses. Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win.”
Offset, 34, confirmed he remains “locked in” on his music despite the incident, using life experiences as creative inspiration. “What happens in my real life, I just put it in my music,” he stated.
