Kansas City, Mo. – Shohei Ohtani’s National League-leading 29th home run Friday night powered the los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals. The win propelled Los Angeles into first place in MLB standings.
Ohtani ignited the game with a leadoff home run, his eighth of the season from that spot in the order. Max Muncy continued his hot streak, homering in the second inning-his fourth in as many games-extending the Dodgers’ advantage.
The Royals responded in the bottom of the second. Bobby Witt Jr.’s home run capped a three-run rally, briefly giving Kansas City a 4-3 lead.
