Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ ​superstar, has made history by ‌achieving 50 home ⁢runs ⁣and 50 stolen ⁤bases in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) season.

Ohtani’s Rise to ‍Fame

Ohtani entered the ‍Major Leagues‍ in 2018, creating a sensation⁤ by doing double duty as a‍ pitcher and hitter. He won the American League Rookie of the ‌Year award ‌that year, with a 4-2 record,⁣ 3.31 ERA,‍ and ⁢a .285 batting average, 22 ⁤home runs,⁣ and 61 RBIs.

Overcoming Injuries

Despite suffering from injuries, including ​elbow surgery in 2018 and a ⁢sprained elbow in 2020, Ohtani continued to⁣ excel as a batter and pitcher. ⁢In​ 2021, ⁤he recorded ⁣a⁢ 0.257 batting average, 46 home ⁣runs, 100 RBI, 103 runs, and 25 stolen bases, and as a pitcher, he had 9 ‍wins, 2 ⁢losses, ​and an ERA of 3.18.

Achieving Greatness

Ohtani⁤ became the first MLB player to be⁣ selected as ⁣a​ pitcher ⁢and fielder All-Star ‌at the same time and recorded 100⁤ innings, 100 strikeouts, 100 ‍hits,⁢ 100 RBI, and 100 runs scored. He was​ also the 11th consensus American⁣ League MVP in history.

Continued Success

In the ⁤2022 season, Ohtani grew as a pitcher ‌and hitter, achieving both regulation innings (162 innings) and⁣ at-bats ​(502 at-bats). He became the first player in⁢ MLB ‌history to‍ hit 10 home‌ runs and 10 wins (34 home runs and⁣ 15 wins), ​104 years after Babe ‍Ruth.

World Baseball Classic ‌and MVP Awards

Ohtani’s performance in the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) ‍solidified his position as the ‌epitome of baseball for this era. He posted⁤ a⁣ 0.435 batting⁢ average (10 hits in 23 at-bats) in 7 games and performed well as a pitcher with 2 wins,​ 1 save,⁢ and an ERA of 1.86 in 3 games. Ohtani earned⁤ his second‍ unanimous ⁤MVP award in the 2023 ⁢season.

50-50 Record

Ohtani​ achieved⁣ the 50-50 record on the same day he ⁢played at ​Londipo Park,⁣ where ‍the WBC final⁣ was held. He​ currently has 51 home runs and 51 stolen bases,⁤ making ​him the 6th player in history to hit ⁣40 home runs and 40 stolen bases.
