Crude oil prices extended recent gains, with Brent crude climbing toward $90 to $91.05 per barrel as escalating geopolitical tensions compounded supply disruption fears worldwide, according to reporting by multiple business outlets.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, oil prices moved higher as United States President Donald Trump threatened to continue military strikes against Iran. The renewed conflict between Washington and Tehran injected fresh uncertainty into global markets regarding the safety and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical crude transit chokepoints. Al-Bayan reported that prices jumped following a U.S. attack on Iran’s Lark Island, while Fana News noted that crude futures settled up by more than 2 percent overall.

Supply Disruptions Drive Up Diesel and Refining Margins

Beyond crude benchmarks, refined product markets experienced severe turbulence. Diesel prices in the United States and Europe surged sharply due to overlapping attacks on global refinery infrastructure. U.S. ultra-low sulfur diesel futures climbed 7.4 percent to settle at $4.19 per gallon, marking the largest increase since July 13. European diesel refining margins—measured by the price spread between the refined fuel and crude costs—simultaneously expanded by roughly 10 percent.

Refined product spikes followed a confirmed Ukrainian attack on a refinery located in Tatarstan, Russia. The combined refinery outages deepened anxieties for industrial buyers and agricultural producers relying heavily on diesel fuel ahead of the Northern Hemisphere’s planting season and the Southern Hemisphere’s harvest season.

Market Impact on Brent and Regional Benchmarks

Market data tracked across regional reporting underscored the swift pace of the commodity rally. Emirates Al-Youm placed Brent crude pricing at $91.05 per barrel, while Brent approached $90 per barrel, representing an increase of approximately 13 percent compared to levels recorded just one week prior. Traders continue to price in mounting risk premiums as Middle Eastern hostilities persist alongside ongoing refinery constraints in Europe and North America.
