Connor Brown Ready for Stanley Cup Final Return

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor Brown, sidelined recently with an undisclosed injury, has been cleared to play. He practiced Sunday adn is expected to be in the lineup when the Oilers face the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final on Wednesday. This is a boost to the oilers Stanley Cup Final hopes.
Brown, 31, was injured after a hit from Dallas Stars defenseman Alexander Petrovic in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals on May 25. He subsequently missed the final two games of that series.
“I feel good,” Brown saeid following Sunday’s practice. “Nice to get a practice in with the team… Its nice to get it going. I’m excited.”
During the playoffs, brown has tallied eight points, including five goals, in 14 games. Throughout the regular season, he recorded 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) and a plus-9 rating across all 82 games.
Viktor Arvidsson has been filling Brown’s spot on the third line, playing right wing alongside center Adam Henrique and left wing evander Kane. The Oilers are currently without Zach Hyman, who is recovering from surgery after an upper-body injury sustained in Game 4 against the Stars.
“I’ve got no idea what the line combinations are,” Brown said. “It’s just my job to be ready to go.”
Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch expressed confidence in Brown’s readiness. “I think he will be fine… I’m pretty sure and confident that he will be fine for Game 1,” Knoblauch said.
