Oklahoma State Baseball Opens Season with Challenging Slate at Shriners Showdown
ARLINGTON, TX – The Oklahoma State Cowboys baseball team will begin its 2026 season against a gauntlet of top-20 competition at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, February 13-15. The Cowboys will face No. 5 Arkansas on Friday, February 13th, followed by a Saturday, February 14th matchup against their Bedlam rival, No. 19 Oklahoma, and concluding the tournament against No. 17 Vanderbilt on Sunday, February 15th.
This marks the second consecutive year Oklahoma State will open its season at the Shriners Showdown. Last year, the team posted a 1-2 record at the tournament.
Oklahoma State enters the 2026 season in its 14th year under head coach Josh Holliday. The Cowboys concluded the 2025 season with a 30-25 overall record, reaching the finals of the NCAA Athens Regional and finishing seventh in the Big 12 Conference with a 15-12 league mark.
Coach Holliday has a strong track record against ranked opponents, having led the Cowboys to a 103-97 record against nationally ranked teams. Last season, OSU went 5-9 against such competition.
Globe Life Field has become a familiar venue for the Cowboys, having played 34 games there over the past four seasons. Their overall record at the home of the Texas Rangers is 19-15, with records of 5-5 in 2022, 5-4 in 2023, 7-2 in 2024, and 2-4 last season.
The opening game against Arkansas is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Friday, February 13th. The Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 14th, and the tournament will conclude with a 10:30 AM game against Vanderbilt on Sunday, February 15th.
