Bob Oravec, lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Weather prediction Center, reported 17 tornado events on Saturday.Five were confirmed in south-central oklahoma, including one that caused EF1-level damage to a town still recovering from a tornado in March.

Flooding Claims Life of Child in Moore, Oklahoma
Police in Moore, Oklahoma, about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City, responded to numerous flood reports over the weekend, including two vehicles stranded Saturday night. One vehicle was swept under a bridge. While police rescued several individuals, a 12-year-old girl was found dead.
“This was a historic weather event that impacted roadways and caused dozens of high water rescues throughout the city,” Moore police said in a statement Sunday. Moore has a population of approximately 63,000.
Tornado Fatality Reported in Spaulding, Oklahoma
Approximately 80 miles southeast of Moore, another fatality occured after a tornado touched down in Spaulding, according to the Hughes County emergency Management Office. The agency reported on Facebook that multiple homes and other structures were destroyed,and “numerous landslides” occurred on county roads.
The National Weather Service’s preliminary damage assessment indicated that the tornado was at least an EF1, with winds estimated between 86 and 110 mph. Another EF1 tornado was identified south of Oklahoma City, in Love County.
Slow-moving System Causes Prolonged Threat
Oravec noted that the storm system’s slow movement over Texas and Oklahoma on Saturday resulted in a prolonged period of severe weather, including large hail, flash flooding, and tornadoes.
Marshall County Experiences Tornado Damage
Bill Macon, director of Emergency Management for Marshall County, reported that initial assessments indicated a tornado skipped along a 6- to 7-mile path in a rural area, damaging at least 20 homes, some severely.
macon stated that most residents were home when the tornado struck late Saturday,felling large trees and downing numerous power poles and lines. No injuries or fatalities were reported in Marshall County.
“We take these things very seriously here in Oklahoma,” Macon said, referring to the National Weather Service’s warnings.

The northern part of Ada, Oklahoma, a city still recovering from a tornado in early March, was struck by another tornado Saturday night. A preliminary assessment by the national Weather Service classified the tornado as at least an EF1. Social media posts showed businesses with damaged roofs, broken windows, and destroyed signs.
In a video posted on Facebook, Jason Keck, director of Emergency Management for Ada, said the tornado appeared to track along the northern edge of the city toward the North Hills shopping center, “leaving a lot of damage to buildings, power lines and trees.”
According to The Ada News, a clothing store sustained “extreme damage” while being “surrounded by two structures that ended up intact.”
Texas Also Suffers Tornado Damage
Emergency services in Parker County, Texas, reported that at least two tornadoes crossed the western part of the county on Saturday. Photographs showed emergency responders at several homes with missing roofs or walls. One roof was reportedly blown onto a roadway.
