Olmo’s Barcelona Blow: How Long Will the Star Be Sidelined
Barcelona’s Dani Olmo Sidelined with Injury
Spanish football league leaders Barcelona announced on Monday that their player Dani Olmo has been injured and will be out for several weeks.
According to a statement released by the club on the “X” platform, Olmo is suffering from a bicep injury in his right thigh and will be absent from the field between 4 and 5 weeks.
Radio Catalunya reported that the Barcelona player’s injury is more serious than initially expected and that he will miss at least 6 matches for his team.
However, Olmo is expected to be ready for the highly anticipated El Clasico match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on the 27th of next month.
The injury occurred during the Spanish Football League fifth round match between Barcelona and Girona on Sunday, which his team won 1-4.
Olmo scored Barcelona’s third goal before being injured, forcing German coach Hansi Flick to replace him with Eric Garcia after 61 minutes.
A Euro 2024 title winner and top scorer with Spain, Olmo joined Barcelona at the end of the summer transfer window from Leipzig in Germany and signed a contract extension until the summer of 2030.
Olmo has been in impressive form for Barcelona, scoring 3 goals in the League Championship against Rayo Vallecano, Valladolid, and Girona, contributing to the team’s top spot in the standings with 15 points.
Barcelona is set to begin their Champions League campaign, hosting Monaco next Thursday in the first round of the league stage.
