The ‍International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) “Let’s Move” campaign is expanding⁤ its reach to India with “Let’s Move +1,” coinciding with Olympic Day on June 23. This initiative, a collaboration with the Abhinav Bindra ⁢Foundation and the Reliance‍ Foundation, emphasizes the ⁣importance of an active⁣ role in sports and fitness.

The campaign encourages people to invite a friend or⁤ family member⁣ to experience the advantages ⁢of shared physical activity. Celebrations include free paired ⁤sessions in various sports, available at over 50 locations across India.

With a significant⁢ portion of Indian adults and young people ‍not meeting recommended exercise levels,⁢ “Let’s Move +1” aims to inspire participation.‍ Organizers say ‍that engaging‍ in sports with others fosters community, combats loneliness, and promotes mental well-being.

The Olympic Values ⁢Education programme (OVEP) will involve more than 12 million young ‍people in Chandigarh, Odisha, and Assam. activities will include yoga, dance, and sports like football and volleyball.

The Reliance Foundation plans to motivate school networks with activities and a celebration connecting 1,450 young people with Olympians⁢ Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari.

Launched in 2023 with the ⁣WHO, “Let’s Move” has already ⁢reached over 20‍ million people in India. The initiative seeks to⁣ encourage more individuals to adopt active lifestyles beyond Olympic Day, emphasizing the positive role of exercise.
