OM Digital Solutions has expanded its Tough TG-7 camera line with a specialized version engineered for industrial applications, particularly microscopy. Announced February 10, 2026, the TG-7 Industry NY-TGV Super Adapter Kit aims to bridge the gap between compact digital photography and the precision demands of scientific and industrial imaging.

The standard TG-7, released in September 2023, is known for its ruggedness and weather-sealing. The Industry variant builds upon this foundation, adding features tailored for direct connection to binocular stereoscopic microscopes. This allows users to capture high-resolution digital images directly through the microscope’s eyepiece, eliminating the need for separate adapters or complex setups.

The core of the system is the NY-TGV Super Adapter, which facilitates a secure and stable connection between the TG-7 and the microscope. Once connected, the camera can transmit images to an external monitor via HDMI, with magnification levels reaching up to 200x, dependent on the objective lens used with the microscope. This capability opens up possibilities for detailed examination, research, and testing in fields like materials science, quality control, and biological research.

While the imaging pipeline – a 12-megapixel Type 1/2.33-inch sensor and a 25-100mm f/2-4.9 equivalent zoom lens – remains consistent with previous TG models like the TG-5 and TG-6, the TG-7 Industry introduces key functional adjustments. The camera’s Mode Dial now includes dedicated positions for focus-stacking (C1) and microscope adapter mode (C2). Focus stacking, while useful for standard macro photography, is intended to be used outside of a microscope application.

Beyond its microscopy capabilities, the TG-7 Industry retains the impressive close-up performance of the standard TG-7. The camera boasts a minimum focusing distance of just one centimeter (0.39 inches) in macro mode, achieving 7x magnification without the need for any additional equipment. This versatility makes it a useful tool for a range of applications, from detailed product inspection to capturing intricate natural details.

The TG-7’s reputation for durability is a significant asset for industrial use. The camera is waterproof to a depth of 50 feet (15 meters), shockproof against drops from up to seven feet (2.1 meters), crushproof under a load of 220 pounds (100 kilograms), freezeproof down to 14° F (-10° C), and dustproof. It carries an IPX8 rating for water resistance and an IPX6 rating for dust protection, making it suitable for challenging environments.

OM System is also releasing the U-OC Ultra C mount alongside the TG-7 Industry. This mount, priced at $219.99 (USD) and $239.99 (CAD), is designed for compatibility with Evident microscopes, offering coaxial and parfocal adjustment capabilities. This addition further expands the system’s compatibility and precision for specialized microscopy applications.

However, the specialized functionality comes at a premium. While the standard OM System Tough TG-7 is currently available for $549, the TG-7 Industry NY-TGV Super Adapter Kit will launch next month at a significantly higher price point of $1,699.99 in the United States and $1,899.99 in Canada. This price reflects the specialized adapter kit and the targeted functionality for industrial and scientific users.

The introduction of the TG-7 Industry signals OM System’s intent to diversify the applications of its Tough camera line beyond outdoor photography and adventure.
