Omaha Hockey Prepares for Matchup Against Miami
Omaha Hockey (3-7-0, 1-3-0 NCHC) will host Miami (3-9-2, 0-4-0 NCHC) at Baxter Arena. Games are scheduled for 7:07 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23. Both games will be available on 1290 KOIL AM/Varsity and streamed on NCHC.tv.
The Mavericks recently won against Arizona State, marking their first NCHC victory of the season. Sam Stange contributed significantly with two goals, one assist, and a game-winning goal.
Miami enters the series on a six-game losing streak and has yet to win in the NCHC this season. They were swept by Minnesota Duluth last weekend, with a total score of 2-12.
Miami leads the NCHC in penalties, with 61 total and 169 penalty minutes. Their penalty kill is effective, ranking seventh nationally with a .917 success rate, placing second in the NCHC.
Omaha has committed 34 penalties, totaling 68 penalty minutes, which is the second-lowest in the conference.
Omaha’s top scorer is senior forward Zach Urdahl with five goals and seven points. Junior defenseman Jacob Guevin follows with six points and ranks highly among NCHC defensemen in career points.
On Miami’s roster, Matt Choupani and Colby Ambrosio lead in points, both new to the team. Choupani has five goals, while Ambrosio has eight assists.
Both teams have a faceoff winning percentage of .511, tied for seventh in the NCHC. Miami has blocked the most shots in the conference, while Omaha averages 11.30 blocks per game.
Omaha will take a break next week before facing No. 11 St. Cloud State in two games on Dec. 6 and 7.
