In a Telegram statement, Popko confirmed the fatality and said that at least two people were hospitalized. Local military officials described the attacks as “massive,” with residential buildings bearing the brunt of the assault. Kherson Mayor Roman Mrotsjko took to Telegram, warning residents to take cover as artillery shells rained down on the city. The attacks come as Ukraine braces for a potential renewed Russian offensive. Earlier Friday, air raid sirens blared across the contry after Russian warplanes took off from several bases. Reports indicate that MiG-31 fighter jets, capable of carrying hypersonic missiles, were among those deployed.
