OnePlus Nord 5 Unlikely to Reach US Market, New Devices Announced
Updated June 16, 2025
OnePlus, once a prominent player in the US market with carrier partnerships, appears to be focusing less on North America these days. Despite announcing a new lineup of devices, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and earbuds, their availability in the United States is questionable.
The OnePlus Nord 5 is the headliner of the announcement, potentially marking a return to the companyS “flagship killing” strategy. The smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor, a step down from last year’s snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but still a significant upgrade compared to other mid-range phones.
Currently, the company’s US website highlights only the new OnePlus Watch 3 size and the OnePlus Buds 4. The OnePlus pad 3 is available for pre-order but isn’t a new announcement.
OnePlus is scheduled to reveal more details about these devices on July 18. While the company could still decide to release some or all of them in the US, the absence of the OnePlus 13T, a highly anticipated launch, suggests or else.
The lack of competition in the mid-range phone market in the US is a concern. While OnePlus continues to release some hardware in the US,the absence of its more innovative products is a missed opportunity.
