Only seven races set for Albury this Thursday – great weather, ideal track conditions, rail true throughout

Albury Racing Club will host a seven-race card on Thursday, April 23, 2026, under fine weather conditions with the track rated good (4) and the rail in the true position.

The meeting opens at 12:45pm with gates opening, followed by the first race at 1:20pm. The day’s racing is branded as the TAB Autumn Race Day, promoted as the “Home of the Best Border Battles.”

Race 1, the Twin City Truck Centre Country Boosted Maiden Handicap over 1175m, features Stormy Reign as the top selection. The 3YO Canberra-based filly by Time To Reign is trained by Gary Kirkup and ridden by Teaghan Martin, who claims a 1.5kg apprentice allowance. Stormy Reign carries 55kg from barrier 6 and has shown consistent placing form, including a narrow defeat as an easing favourite at Sapphire Coast 10 days prior.

Main dangers in Race 1 are identified as Fire Chat, Graynita, and Simone’s Choice. Neil Evans of Albury Racing Club notes that Stormy Reign has been “very well treated at the weights” and needs only clear air from the 500m mark to make her impact.

Race 2, the Stewart Gould Real Estate Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap over 1400m, begins at 1:55pm. Doubtfree, a 4YO gelding by Dubious trained by Donna Scott and ridden by Pierre Boudvillain, is the top selection. The horse carries 55kg from barrier 2 and is seeking a second career win on his 18th start.
