The updated Opel Astra debuted at the Brussels auto show, with the manufacturer also showcasing the Astra Sports Tourer wagon.
Opel is sharing information sparingly,but the latest Astra will offer a wide range of powertrains - from efficient internal combustion engines and a 48-volt hybrid system to a plug-in hybrid and a fully electric version with a substantially increased range of up to 454 kilometers (282 miles) on the WLTP cycle.
The new Astra’s front end is dominated by the evolved Opel Vizor design. For the first time in Astra history, the Opel lightning logo is illuminated and centered.Horizontal and vertical light strips extend from the logo, creating a modern and technologically refined look inspired by the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept car.New metallic paint colors, redesigned 17- and 18-inch wheels, and an optional cobalt black roof complete the look.
Lighting receives particular attention. The updated Astra features IntelliLux HD headlights utilizing more than 50,000 individual light elements. This system precisely adapts to traffic conditions, selectively dimming lights to avoid glare.
