‘Operation Akhal’: Terrorist Neutralized in J&K’s Kulgam Encounter, Army Confirms
SRINAGAR: security forces have successfully neutralized a terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district during an operation codenamed ‘Operation akhal’.The encounter, which began earlier today, saw the elimination of the militant by the indian Army, according to official sources.
The operation unfolded in the Kulgam area, a region that has sadly seen it’s share of security challenges. While details are still emerging, the Army’s swift action underscores their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Union Territory.
This incident follows a series of counter-terrorism operations across Jammu and Kashmir. Just recently, on July 28, three Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Lidwas area, near Harwan, on the outskirts of Srinagar. This operation, dubbed ‘Operation Mahadev’, was notably notable as it eliminated the individuals responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Among those eliminated in ‘Operation Mahadev’ was Suleiman, identified as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. The other two terrorists were identified as Afghan and Jibran. All three were reportedly senior operatives belonging to the Pakistan-based banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, as confirmed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.Earlier this week, an encounter also commenced near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. This operation, named ‘Operation shivshakti’, was initiated after security forces intercepted a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate the border on tuesday night in the Kalsian-Gulpur area. The situation in Poonch remains active as forces continue their efforts to thwart any further infiltration attempts.
These operations highlight the persistent efforts of our security forces to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens in Jammu and Kashmir. The naming of these operations, like ‘Operation Akhal’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’, often reflects a strategic approach and a deep understanding of the operational landscape, demonstrating the meticulous planning and execution involved in these critical missions. We’ll continue to follow these developments closely.
