DENPASAR – City officials recently convened to evaluate ongoing efforts to combat dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Denpasar. The meeting highlighted the critical role of larvae monitors (Jumantik) and fogging officers in preventing the spread of the mosquito-borne illness.
During the DHF evaluation meeting, held at the Dharma Negara Alaya Building, the Mayor of Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara, expressed his gratitude for the dedication of those working to eradicate mosquito nests and prevent DHF cases.
Dengue fever, caused by the dengue virus transmitted through *Aedes aegypti* mosquito bites, remains a notable public health concern in Indonesia, with the nation experiencing some of the highest rates in southeast Asia.
The Mayor noted the hard work of the Denpasar City Health Office, Jumantik cadres, coordinators, fogging officers, and other related sectors in preventing and controlling DHF. He urged all stakeholders to continue working diligently and innovatively to further reduce the number of cases and eliminate DHF-related deaths in denpasar.
I would like to thank the UPTD Puskesmas District Health Office in Denpasar City for the efforts that have been made so far in the prevention and control of dengue fever. Thank you also to the jumantik, jumantik coordinators and foging officers who have worked hard and remain keen in efforts to prevent and control dengue fever.
Dr. Aa Ayu agung Chandrawati, Head of the Denpasar City Health Office, stated that as part of Denpasar City’s anniversary celebrations and to welcome Nyepi Day in 2025, the city government, through the Health Office, distributed 442 food packages to Jumantik officers, coordinators, and fogging personnel. This initiative served as a token of appreciation for their participation in DHF prevention efforts.
This is a form of appreciation from the Denpasar City Government for the participation of jumantik officers, jumantik coordinators and foging officers in efforts to prevent and control DHF in Denpasar City.
Dr. Chandrawati outlined the various strategies employed by the Denpasar City Health Office to optimize DHF prevention and management. These include public awareness campaigns through radio, social media, and schools, as well as larvae monitoring, PSN competitions (a cleanliness campaign), targeted fogging, mass fogging initiatives, and PSN bluff activities (simulated inspections to encourage community participation).
“Hopefully this strategy can be effectively in supporting the optimization of handling and degradation of DHF cases in Denpasar City,” Dr. Chandrawati said.
Deputy Mayor I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa, along with other officials, including sub-district heads, Jumantik coordinators, cadres, and fogging officers, attended the meeting. Along with the evaluation, food packages were distributed to the Jumantik coordinators, personnel, and fogging officers.
