Messiah Hampton, Top NY Wide Receiver, Commits to Oregon Ducks

Messiah Hampton, a highly-regarded four-star wide receiver from Rochester, N.Y.,has committed to play college football for the Oregon Ducks. Hampton,a class of 2026 prospect,is ranked as the No. 65 player overall and the No. 1 wide receiver in New York by recruiting services.
Hampton chose oregon after making multiple visits to the campus, including an official visit this week. He had scholarship offers from nearly 30 schools, including Penn State, Miami (Fla.) and Syracuse.
Oregon’s head coach Dan Lanning,offensive coordinator will Stein,and wide receivers coach Ross douglass all played a role in securing Hampton’s commitment. Hampton cited the Oregon staff’s ability to develop players as a key factor in his decision.
“I’d say development, just watching the coaches coach — see how they develop players, see how they coach players, how they respond to mistakes, just how they coach them,” Hampton said.
The James monroe High School standout is a versatile player, excelling as a receiver and a returner. As a junior, he recorded 1,900 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns, earning all-state honors. Hampton also maintains a 3.9 GPA and competes in track and field.
With Hampton’s commitment, Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class now includes eight four-star prospects and ranks 24th nationally.
