The Orlando Magic and Walt Disney World are extending their Champion of the Community partnership that began in 2010, keeping the Disney brand on Magic uniforms and linking the two Orlando-born organizations on a global stage. As two Orlando-born organizations, this continues our 16-year COTC relationship putting the community at the heart of what we do,
Orlando Magic President of Business Operations Charlie Freeman said in a statement. The renewed agreement also ties into a newly redesigned Walt Disney World Atrium at the Kia Center featuring updated artwork and advanced projection technology designed to transform the venue space during games and events.
Kia Center Unveils Reimagined Walt Disney World Atrium
Alongside the uniform sponsorship extension, Disney and the Magic unveiled the newly redesigned Walt Disney World Atrium inside the Magic’s home arena, the Kia Center. The updated space features fresh artwork and advanced projection technology built to transform the environment throughout basketball games and other venue events. Walt Disney World President Joe Schott noted that the reimagined atrium creates a vibrant new welcome for fans that feels distinctly local. For years, Walt Disney World and the Orlando Magic have brought people together through shared experiences and a deep commitment to Central Florida,
Schott said. Both organizations trace their shared philosophy back to foundational ties in the region, noting that late Magic co-founder Pat Williams once wrote about how building an NBA team from scratch mirrored the creative path Walt Disney took in establishing his animation studio, theme parks, and characters.
Preseason Matchup in Cleveland Highlights Roster Adjustments
While the business partnership expanded off the court, the Magic basketball squad faced preseason challenges on the floor, falling 119-105 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland. Playing without sidelined guards Jalen Suggs due to an illness and Desmond Bane resting, plus Anthony Black recovering from a right ankle sprain and Jonathan Isaac out for personal reasons, Orlando relied on extended minutes from younger contributors. Tristan da Silva led the Magic with 17 points, hitting four of 11 three-point attempts, while Jase Richardson added 12 points and four assists in his second straight start. Just trying to be aggressive,
Richardson said of his performance. Try to playmake, but keep in mind that I need to be aggressive, try to get downhill, and the lane kind of opened for me.
Defensive Execution and Upcoming Rematch in Orlando
Despite accumulating 28 assists on 37 made field goals, Orlando struggled defensively against Cleveland by sending the Cavaliers to the free-throw line for 30 attempts, surrendering 19 turnovers, and allowing 41 percent shooting from beyond the arc. James Harden led Cleveland with 24 points, while Evan Mobley scored 14 and Donovan Mitchell added 13. Magic head coach Sean Sweeney stressed the importance of improved execution before their next game. We want to do a better job defensively,
Sweeney said. Scheme execution is a big one, positioning is going to be a big thing.
The two teams meet again in preseason action at the Kia Center in Orlando.
We’re honored to represent our great city and look forward to creating more magic for Central Florida.
Orlando Magic President of Business Operations Charlie Freeman
