Osan City and Yeongdong-gun, sports exchange ‘promotes friendship’

Osan City contributed to promoting friendship between the two cities and counties through sports exchange activities with its sister city, Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.
The Osan City Sports Council announced on the 11th that the annual Osan Sports Citizen League exchange match was held in Yeongdong-gun, North Chungcheong Province for three days starting on the 8th.
In the ‘2024 Osan Sports Citizen League Yeongdong-gun Sports Exchange Exhibition’, about 100 athletes, including athletes from 7 sports who won the Osan Sports Citizen League, participated and competed against Yeongdong-gun players.
Previously, the Sports Council selected the final winners of seven sports, including badminton, table tennis, tennis, foot volleyball, bowling, archery, and park golf, through preliminary league and final tournaments from March to November. The Sports Council promotes an exchange match every year by granting the final winning team the privilege of participating in the exchange match.
Athletes from seven sports who participated in this exchange match with Yeongdong-gun strengthened sports friendship with the sister city and contributed to the promotion of friendship between the two cities.
The Osan Sports Citizen League is a civic community sports league led by citizens and is a representative program of the Osan City Sports Council that aims to revitalize daily sports through an open sports league that anyone can participate in throughout the year.
Osan City Sports Chairman Kwon Byeong-gyu said, “I hope that this 3-day, 2-night exchange will become a valuable model that leads not only sports but also art, economy, and culture between the two cities and counties.”
Mayor Lee Kwon-jae also said, “As this exchange match is an important bridgehead for promoting friendship between the two cities and counties and regional development, I hope that athletes from both cities and counties will have a valuable time strengthening friendship.”
Meanwhile, Osan City and Yeongdong-gun have been engaging in exchange activities in various fields, including mutual visits by youth and hometown love donations, since establishing a sisterhood relationship in 2000.
