Oscar Isaac Teases Del Toro’s ’frankenstein’ as Acting ‘Banquet’
Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth offered a sneak peek of Guillermo del Toro’s frankenstein at Netflix’s Tudum event. Isaac, who plays Victor Frankenstein, shared his excitement about the project, while Goth, portraying Elizabeth Lavenza, emphasized the film’s emotional depth. The upcoming movie promises a fresh take on the classic tale, focusing on character-driven drama.
Isaac recounted his surprise when del Toro offered him the role. “I wasn’t expecting it,” isaac said. “I was just sitting with him talking and after a long conversation he looked up at me and said, ‘I think that you need to be my Victor Frankenstein.’ I still can’t believe it.” He added that del Toro promised him “a banquet as an actor,” a promise he says was fulfilled every day on set.
Goth echoed Isaac’s sentiments, describing the film as ”an incredibly epic film” and “incredibly emotional and deeply personal.” she believes audiences will be surprised by the movie’s heart, noting del Toro’s lifelong connection to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
He said, ‘I’m going to make you a banquet as an actor,’ and that is what he did, every day I would come to set and I just was so excited and was doing all sorts of lovely, difficult, expressive things,” Isaac continued. “I just had him as my brother, right there helping me every step of the way.
Jacob Elordi, who plays the monster, wasn’t present at the event, but his brief appearance in the teaser footage left a strong impression. It’s an incredibly epic film. I’ve never been a part of something so big and so grand, but it’s also incredibly emotional and deeply personal. It’s a story that’s been a part of Guillermo’s life as he was a boy and so I definitely think people might be pleasantly surprised by how much heart there is in this movie.
