Our Legacy Celebrates 20 Years Revisiting Forgotten Designs
Updated June 23, 2025
Milan – Our Legacy co-founders Christopher Nying and Jockum Hallin recently reflected on two decades of the brand’s journey in menswear. The anniversary prompted a look back, including some early criticism. Nying recalled hate mail received, possibly after a Stüssy collaboration.Hallin noted the messages predated LVMH’s investment in the brand.
Instead of reissuing popular items, Our Legacy is marking its 20th year by reviving lesser-known designs and fabrics.Hallin mentioned rediscovering “space cowboy” boots in their Milan showroom. The brand’s role has evolved significantly as its inception.
Nying highlighted the revival of a silk cupro coat with a wax finish. “We tried to do it 10 years ago, but it was really bad. But now we certainly know how to actually do it,” Nying said.
Nying recalled a winged skeleton motif from their first collection in 2005.”At that time, I felt like Our Legacy is a good name-but maybe Archangel is even better!” he said.
After moving from Paris, Our legacy has become a notable presence at Milan Fashion Week. Hallin said the move provides a fresh perspective from buyers.
