Square Glade Games and publisher Silver Lining Games have announced that the open-world camper van exploration game Outbound has been delayed. The title, which was originally scheduled for release on April 23, 2026, is now set to launch on May 14, 2026.
The game is developed for a wide range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Notably, the release will also include the Switch 2.
Technical Challenges and Polishing
The decision to push back the launch stems from technical hurdles discovered during the final stages of development. Square Glade Games stated that an issue has been identified that could negatively impact your enjoyment of the game
late in the process.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to still guarantee a release across all platforms on the originally planned date. Please be assured that our team has worked extremely hard to address this and did everything possible to stay on schedule.

The developer indicated that the additional time will be used to ensure a more polished and bug-free experience for players across all supported hardware.
Demo Availability and Game Features
To compensate for the delay, the companies are extending the availability of the game’s demo. The demo, which is currently accessible on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, will now remain available until May 12, 2026.
Outbound is described as a blend of first-person exploration and nomadic crafting. The gameplay focuses on an open-world experience centered around the use of a camper van.
The full release is expected to land on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo hardware simultaneously on May 14, 2026.
