Outrage in Jordan: Director Hussein Dibes Faces Backlash and Family Threats After Explosive Interview
A video interview with Jordanian director Hussain Dybes elicited interaction and sympathy from the Jordanian public, when he appeared ill in a nursing home, in a state where it was difficult to speak and sometimes crying after suffering a stroke.
The story goes back to when a Jordanian producer, along with an Arab broadcaster, conducted a lengthy interview with director Hussein Daibes while he was in a nursing home. which evoked widespread sympathy from the Jordanian people.
After the video of the interview went viral, the new Prime Minister Zafar Hasan asked the Culture Minister to monitor the health status of director Dybes.
But the director’s sons issued a press statement, in which they confirmed that Diebes did not need to follow the health of the Minister of Culture or anyone else. Because he has been receiving treatment at the best capacity and best hotel for a year and a half after suffering a stroke, resulting in Alzheimer’s and hemiplegia.
The statement confirmed that a complaint had been filed against the producer, who, along with the Arab broadcaster, filmed the interview, as well as a complaint against Diebes, the center’s housing director, for allowing the interview to be conducted without his family’s prior permission. Due to her health condition which does not allow it, and her appearance in a way that does not suit her and her family.
The Jordanian Journalists Syndicate also issued a statement saying that the filming by director Hussein Dibes was a clear violation of his privacy and did not take into account the sanctity of his illness and the health conditions he was facing and what happened to him. Television interviews are considered reprehensible behavior and require accountability.
It is worth noting that the 78-year-old Daibs is considered one of the most important directors in the artistic field of the Arab scene and has previously directed several musical compositions for notable Arab artists, including: Muhammad Abdo, Kazem Al-Saher, Najwa Karam, Abdul Majid Abdullah, Sadoun Jaber, George Wassuf, Saber Al-Rubai, Fadel Shaker, Asala Nasri, Omar Al-Abdlat.
