Vehicle of Father of 5-Year-Old Rape Victim Vandalized in Lomé

A disturbing incident occurred in Lomé, where the vehicle of a father whose 5-year-old daughter was raped at École la Madone was vandalized overnight from Sunday to Monday. The father, a computer engineer, had been visiting an acquaintance when he discovered his vehicle had been stoned, with personal belongings and documents stolen.

Since April 2024, the father has been seeking justice for his daughter, despite facing challenges and threats. One such threat came from Joel Tomegah, a close friend of the school’s general director, Germain Tomegah, who warned the father’s sister to calm him down or risk trouble.

The vandalism of the father’s vehicle has added to the family’s trauma, raising concerns about the implementation of these threats. The father reported that his work phone, car parts, and other objects were stolen, with the hood opened and cables cut.

In Togo, seeking justice can be a daunting task, especially when those responsible are powerful individuals. The authorities must take the latest developments in this case seriously and ensure the physical integrity of the victim’s father, who is only seeking the truth.

The incident highlights the need for accountability and protection for victims of injustice. The authorities must take immediate action to address this situation and provide support to the affected family.
