NVE (Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) cautions that large landslides could be triggered by the combination of mild weather and strong winds in the mountains. Traffic operator Jensen notes that the weather shift may also lead to slippery driving conditions with icy patches and snow-covered roads.

Isolated and Powerless
234 subscriptions are still powerless in the Tromsø village of Sjursnes.
Residents have been without electricity since Tuesday, when the village was struck by an avalanche. The challenging conditions have hampered repair efforts, but the power company anticipates restoring service by 4pm today.
The road leading out of the village is also impassable.
Erik Palm,Communications Manager at Finnmark Hospital, assures that the health enterprise has robust protocols in place to ensure safety and preparedness.
“I talked to AMK earlier this morning, and they say that they are constantly trying to be a leader, especially about emergency patients,” Palm stated.
The road closures have also impacted travelers such as Vera Arntsen and Liv Anna Brekke, who were en route to Alta for the Barents Winter Games. “we have been raging here for two days. We have driven for two days from Bodø, and one hour before we arrived then there was a stop,” said Vera Arntsen, highlighting the frustration and delays caused by the landslides.
The danger of snow avalanches over the E6 along the Langfjord has closed the main shipping year between Alta and Tromsø.
Fortunately, the Langfjordbotn Sanitary Association has opened its clubhouse for stranded travelers for the fifth year running. “From experience we have seen that many remain along the road when the road is closed,” explained Annie Mikalsen from the association.
Last night, six people found shelter, with four staying in the clubhouse and two accommodated in a private home. Arntsen expressed her gratitude for the offer, stating, “I see it in the guestbook here too, that people are glad they have that offer.”
Depending on the outcome of the Road Administration’s inspection at 12:00 today, Arntsen and Brekke may have to consider an alternate route to Alta via Finland.
Tonight, several travelers have been able to sleep in the gray clubhouse of the Sanitary Association in Langfjordbotn. Annie Mikalsen says travelers really appreciate that the Sanitary Association opens the doors.
