Connecticut residents can expect a quiet night with mostly clear skies and light winds across the state on April 20, according to the overnight forecast issued by NBC Connecticut’s StormTracker team.

The forecast, released in the evening of April 19, indicates that temperatures will drop into the mid-40s Fahrenheit in most inland areas, while coastal regions along Long Island Sound will see lows in the upper 40s due to the moderating influence of the water.

Winds are expected to remain light and variable, generally under 5 mph, which will contribute to calm conditions overnight. No precipitation is anticipated, and humidity levels will remain moderate, reducing the likelihood of fog formation in valleys and low-lying areas.

StormTracker meteorologists noted that the stable weather pattern is the result of a weakening high-pressure system moving slowly eastward over the Atlantic, which is suppressing storm development and keeping disruptive weather at bay through the early morning hours of April 20.

The clear skies overnight will provide excellent conditions for radiational cooling, which may lead to localized patches of frost in sheltered, rural areas by dawn, particularly in the northeastern and northwestern corners of the state where temperatures could approach the low 40s.

Looking ahead to Sunday, April 20, forecasters predict a gradual increase in cloud cover during the day as a weak disturbance approaches from the west. However, any precipitation associated with this system is expected to remain light and confined to higher elevations, with little impact on daytime temperatures, which are forecast to reach the low to mid-60s across much of Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut’s StormTracker continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates if any changes occur in the evolving weather pattern. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for the latest forecast details.
