New Input Option and matchmaking Changes
Beginning with the launch of Season 18 on August 26, Overwatch 2 console players will gain the option to use a keyboard and mouse for gameplay.The development team is implementing separate matchmaking pools to ensure fair competition.
Players using keyboard and mouse on consoles will be grouped with PC players and other console players utilizing keyboard and mouse. A separate pool will be maintained exclusively for console players using controllers.
Skill Rating and Aim Assist Considerations
According to official patch notes, players who switch to the keyboard and mouse pool will have distinct skill ratings, matchmaking rank (MMR), and statistics separate from those using a controller. this ensures a balanced competitive experience.
Players in the keyboard and mouse pool will not have access to aim assist, mirroring the current system for PC players. A prompt will appear, requiring players to actively switch to the keyboard and mouse pool, or they can manually adjust their input settings within the Gameplay Options menu.
