The console launch coincides with the start of Season 2, titled Reign of Talon: Summit, which began on April 14, 2026, at 11 am PT. This release follows a rebranding of the title; the game was known as Overwatch 2 until February 2026, when the number was removed from its name.
Season 2 introduces Sierra, a new DPS hero. Sierra is equipped with a rifle and a combat drone named Dorothy. Her character background is linked to the Soldier Enhancement Program.
Accompanying the new hero is a dedicated three-week event called Operation: Grand Mesa. This event is set in the aftermath of Sierra’s confrontation with Talon and allows players to earn her story in-game to provide context regarding her character and the importance of the location.
