Oviedo City Council Recognizes Veterans’ Association

On January 12, 2026, the mayor of Oviedo, Alfredo Canteli, presented the standard (Guión) of the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans of the Civil Guard and Armed Forces of Asturias to the organization’s president, retired Colonel Fermín Olay, during a ceremony at the oviedo City Hall.

Mayor Canteli emphasized the honor for the Oviedo City Council in presenting the standard, citing recognition of the values and dedication of the military and Civil guard veterans.Oviedo City Council has a long history of supporting veteran organizations within the municipality.

The Civil Guard (Real Hermandad de Veteranos de la Guardia Civil y las Fuerzas Armadas de Asturias) plays a vital role in regional security.
